About Valco Medals

Valco Medals was started a year ago as a small project between 2 friends who had been collecting independently for nearly 30 years each. Just 2 mates with an interest in medals. Poking around at car boot sales, jumble sales, antiques shops , auctions and eventually organised medal fairs. As in a lot of cases the interest was sparked for both Mark & I when being shown and then given/inheriting the medals awarded to our family members from WW1 & WW2.

We bought a few nice medal groups between us to fund our own personal collections and have owned and sold many varied and interesting medals over the years.

The site you see today was set up by us simply to offer nice quality items that we have picked up along the journey. We are are after all collectors first, and as our collections evolve some former cherished items can sometimes no longer fulfil the remit. To begin with there will not be huge lists of stock but we hope in time that as we work through our medals and concentrate our collections we will increase the items on offer on a monthly or weekly basis.

Some of you will know that I own a house clearance business and that I often buy the medals direct from the estates of the recipients meaning that I acquire a lot of items that are fresh to the market... sometimes families are un-aware that a relative even has them until we clear the properties.... It is true to say that sometimes these medals/groups literally disappear for 50, 100 years or more.

We will always try to be realistic with our pricing, be honest as far as we can with the provenance of items and be as diligent as we can with our research. Obviously some items will come without paperwork but we will do our best to describe them as accurately as we can. We will try to get the best images we can uploaded for your perusal but please do not hesitate to contact us via phone or e-mail should you have and questions about any of our items.

We are more than happy to consider purchasing medals too.

Pete & Mark.
