Interesting WW1 medal pair awarded to M2/152929 Pte. W.I. Shaw. A.S.C. Both medals are in excellent condition with the Victory having a tatty but original silk ribbon, a replacement on the British War Medal. The MIC has the word "Died" on it so we then looked at Soldiers Died In The Great War. This brings up that Pte. Shaw died at home on 15/7/1916. He also has a CWGC certificate which confirms that Pte. Shaw was with the 649th Motor Transport Company... ASC (France) and is remembered with Honour at Kensall Green (All Souls) Cemetery. Further research would be required to establish the location of 649 M.T. Corps in July 1916. The SDGW & CWGC state that Pte. Shaws parents were resident in Ontario Canada at the time of his death.
I will include a copy MIC, SDGW and CWGC certificate.
